When Techno Was House - How Chicago influenced Detroit (daily.redbullmusicacademy.com)

'Techno and house are widely regarded as distinct musical genres these days, but in the beginning, there was more overlap than anyone might realize. While Detroit artists eventually developed their own style, the Belleville Three (Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson) have always acknowledged Chicago’s influence and the fruitful musical dialogue between these two Midwestern cities.'

Great piece by the Redbull music team here on how in it's early days, the techno movement that originated in Detroit, was actually seen as that cities version of house music rather than entirely seperate genre. Of course all of this music is interlinked and many of the early tracks from Detroit are house tracks, for example this by Kevin Saunderson's Inner City
